One of Australia’s original cities, one of the world’s friendliest places
Hobart has a fascinating past embedded in its heritage sprawl. The Penitentiary Chapel offers interesting historical information and dates back to convict times in Australia. Originally used for storage of goods, Hobart’s well known sandstone warehouses offer a glimpse into the city’s original architectural design. It’s not all preserved history though, this whole area comes to life every Saturday with the famous Salamanca Market. You'll find stalls selling fresh local produce, jam filled donuts, great coffee and unique art and craft.
